Altered Books: Artists Books

Saturday, October 21, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

An altered book is a sculptural book form that takes inspiration from the original content of a used book to become an art work in and of itself. Starting with a stack of used books and a series of exercises meant to prompt creativity, we’ll explore different methods of alternation from changing the text, to collage, painting and cutting. We’ll look at examples of successful altered books, from Marcel Duchamp’s Unhappy Readymade to Tom Phillips’ A Humument

$60 all materials included.
