Altered Books: 9/13/23
Wednesday, September 13 from 6 to 9 p.m.
An altered book is a sculptural book form that takes inspiration from the original content of a used book to become an art work in and of itself. Starting with a stack of used books, we’ll explore different methods of alternation from changing the text, to collage, painting and cutting. We’ll look at examples of successful altered books, from Marcel Duchamp’s Unhappy Readymade to Tom Phillips’ A Humument. All participants will start work on an altered book project of their own, inspired by creative prompts from the workshop.
$60, all materials included. Sliding scale available.
