Printing Words from Banned Books: 8/19/23

Saturday, August 19 from 1 to 5 p.m.

Practice letterpress printing while honoring the words of your favorite writer, while bringing attention to the attempts to ban books, currently underway in many parts of our country. Bring a sentence or two from your favorite banned book. Set the words in your choice of metal movable type, and print an edition of 25 prints on the Vandercook printing press. You pick typeface, ink color, paper type and size.

From one of my favorite banned books: “And don’t fight when you’re angry. Think when you’re angry. Write when you’re angry. Read when you’re angry.”
